Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain can come from within the shoulder joint and surrounding muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Pain that increases with movement can typically be assumed to be coming from the shoulder joint.

Signs and Symptoms:

  • Difficulty moving shoulder
  • Pain with exercise or repetitive movements
  • Inability to move shoulder
  • Numbness or tingling in the arm
  • Pain after a fall or accident
  • Shoulder weakness

Physical Therapy Treatment:

Depending on your specific diagnosis and if you required surgery, your physical therapy treatment will work on increasing your range of motion, strength, and help you return to all daily activities with no pain.

Arm Pain

Arm pain can occur due to fractures and nerve problems. Most injuries occur from an accident or fall. Older adults, active children and people who participate in contact/adventure sports are a more prone to these injuries. Repetitive stress injuries can also cause arm pain.

Signs and Symptoms:

  • Pain with movement
  • Decreased strength
  • Swelling, redness, or tingling

Physical Therapy Treatment:

Working closely with your physical therapist, you will work on stretching and strengthening exercises. Other modalities will be used to increase your speed of recovery.

Hand/Wrist Pain

Hand/wrist pain is the most common musculoskeletal complaint that doctors see. Hand/wrist pain can occur from repetitive stress, sprains, fractures, and diseases such as arthritis.

Signs and Symptoms:

  • Pain and swelling
  • Bruising
  • Inability to use wrist normally
  • Painful popping or clicking
  • Tingling/Numbness
  • Stiffness

Physical Therapy Treatment:

With your physical therapist you will work on increasing range of motion and strength and decreasing pain and swelling through different modalities and exercises.
